In June of 2002 in Des Moines, Iowa, three friends
decided to form a band all their own: A band writing its own material. A band paying tribute to great music and
those who make it. A band with its own unique, creative energy, jamming to the tones of peace and love with an upbeat
vibe.
Those three friends were Connor Hughes, Patrick Whitty, and Chris Noth.
In March of 2003 Matt Koester was added to the lineup, and in August of the same year Matt Ward signed on, completing the
group.
The band has come a long way but will
never lose its trademark sound, a sound with influences of rock, funk, folk and blues. MOZ is consistently
trying to perfect that sound, which has finally been recorded and thus preserved forever. If you happen to catch an MOZ show, listen closely; for at the highest
point of the jam you will experience the moment - the Moment of Zen. . .

8.20.04 - The Last Entry
Hey everybody - one last note for ya'll. On behalf of Moment of Zen, I just wanted
to take this opportunity to say thank you and goodbye. The last two years have been simply incredible. Words can't describe the
sheer joy I've felt writing, playing, and sharing music with and for such wonderful people day in and day out.
After 18 shows, hundreds of jams, and many events of unparalleled immaturity, we're calling
it quits. It's certainly been a roller coaster ride, but in the end I can't help but think we came out on top...and
we owe it all to you guys, our dear fans.
Sadly, we've reached the end of the road...we're going our seperate ways pursuing higher
education, but the music will no doubt live forever. Who knows what the future will bring - one last show? Only time
will tell. It has truly been an honor and a pleasure to be part of something so special. All I can
say is thank you, God bless, and goodbye.
Thanks for listening.
- - Chris Noth
