MATT KOESTER The group's first addition and the only member not involved in the school band. Matt plays
6-string guitars, a Washburn acoustic and a Crate electric. Koester uses an Ultrasound acoustic amp and
an Epiphone electric. He's fond of his Boss loop and Fender California Cables. You'll ususally see Koester playing GHS,
Dean Markley, or Elixer strings. Matt's writing is influenced by a number of artists, one of which being Marc Broussard.
CONNOR HUGHES Connor is an all-around percussionist. You can find him playing snare drum
in the marching band, drumset in the jazz band, salsa band, and jazz combo. Hughes handles percussion in the symphony
band and many other small ensembles. Connor keeps the MOZ heartbeat strong, supporting the groove on his 9-piece Sonor
set. Connor uses Zildgen cymbals, a DW bass pedal, and a variety of Vic Firth sticks. Connor's CD wallet contains a mix of
DMB, 311, and Irish jig music.
PATRICK WHITTY Whitty has been the horn section for the band since the beginning, grooving to the tune or stepping out for a
crazy solo. He plays tuba in marching band, alto sax for all other music purposes, and digs in with an alto or tenor
for MOZ, sometimes at the same time. The "Two-horn blues," as it's called, showcases his chops. Whitty plays a Yamaha alto
and a number of different tenors.
CHRIS NOTH Chris takes care of the low end, laying down the groove and going off on the occassional solo.
He plays upright bass in symphony band, a little percussion on the side, and bass in all other musical endeavors. Chris
plays a Fender 4-string Jazz and a Yamaha RBX 5-string, powered by a Carvin PB200-15 and run to the
mixer with a SignalFlex DI. He uses D'Addario strings and Digitech BP50 effects. Like Koester, Noth loves those
Fender California Cables.
MATT WARD Ward is the newest and final addition to Moment of Zen. Matt plays a Fender acoustic, powered by a Drive amp. When he's not
wailing on the mic for MOZ, Ward plays percussion for school music, drum set in his spare time, and steals ladies'
hearts singing in the choir.
Moment of Zen uses Samson mics, Peavey speakers, and a 6-channel Peavey powered
mixer.
